The Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) conducted a two-day training and awareness programme on 30 September and 1 October 2026 to enhance the knowledge, skills and operational efficiency of personnel engaged in Seva Vanitha Yoghurt Projects.
The programme was held at the Seva Vanitha Yoghurt Project established at SLNS Gemunu, on the directive of NSVU President, Mrs. Kaushalya Opatha Fernando.
On the first day (30 September), a training session was conducted in coordination with the National Livestock Development Board (NLDB). It covered key aspects of yoghurt production, including production processes, appropriate techniques, quality standards, and the efficient operation and maintenance of production facilities. Mr. Amila Wijeweera, Manager of the NLDB Welisara Office, served as the resource person, sharing expertise and practical knowledge with naval personnel representing all 13 Seva Vanitha Yoghurt Projects.
On 1 October, a Computer-Based Accounting System Awareness Programme was conducted in coordination with the Seva Vanitha Unit. The programme focused on the systematic maintenance and updating of yoghurt production records, stock management and production distribution records, with the aim of enhancing the accuracy, efficiency and overall management of the projects.
The Senior Coordinating Officer and officers of the NSVU were also present on this occasion.
