NSVU FULFILS DREAM HOME FOR FAMILY OF DECEASED SAILOR IN POLGOLLA

In a heartfelt gesture of support, the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) handed over a completed house to the family of the late Leading Seaman AMN Abeykoon at Polgolla on 8 September 2026. The NSVU had extended financial assistance to complete the dwelling, which had remained in a partially constructed state.

Leading Seaman Abeykoon passed away whilst he was on active service, and the NSVU came forward to support his grieving family. The handover ceremony was held under the patronage of the NSVU President, Mrs. Kaushalya Opatha Fernando.

The Navy also provided the necessary manpower to execute the construction work. Following traditional housewarming rituals, Mrs. Fernando engaged with the naval personnel who contributed to the project and conveyed her appreciation for their dedicated service.

The initiative underscores the NSVU's unwavering commitment to the welfare of naval personnel and their families.

Among those present were Captain R.H. Ranasinghe, Commanding Officer SLNS Shilpa, the Senior Coordinating Officer and staff members of the NSVU.
