NSVU PRESIDENT VISITS WELFARE INITIATIVES OF INDIAN NAVY WELFARE AND WELLNESS ASSOCIATION IN NEW DELHI

Mrs. Kaushalya Opatha Fernando, President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), visited the Indian Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA) Kendra in New Delhi on 27 August 2026. She made this visit while accompanying the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, during his official visit to India at the invitation of the Indian Navy.

The visiting NSVU President was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Laila Swaminathan, President of the NWWA and spouse of Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, the Chief of the Naval Staff of India. Mrs. Fernando subsequently toured the NWWA's diverse welfare initiatives, gaining insight into their work on inclusion, empowerment, sustainability, skill development and holistic well-being.

As an AMI-qualified teacher, she also brought her considerable expertise to the staff of the naval welfare institutions, sharing valuable insights on early childhood development. Appreciating the impact of NWWA’s initiatives, Mrs. Fernando highlighted the value of such interactions in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening welfare practices. The visit reaffirmed that beyond maritime partnerships, the shared commitment to the well-being and empowerment of naval families forms a strong and enduring bridge between the two nations.
