NSVU LAUNCHES DENGUE PREVENTION INITIATIVE AT WELISARA

Upon assuming office as the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Kaushalya Opatha Fernando gave precedence to the implementation of a dengue prevention programme at the Welisara Naval Complex today (8 July 2026).

The programme was initiated in view of the prevailing need to strengthen awareness and preventive measures against the spread of dengue within the naval community.

The programme brought together members of the NSVU, naval personnel, and their family members for a comprehensive cleaning campaign across identified locations within the Welisara Naval Complex, demonstrating their collective commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Following the dengue prevention programme, the NSVU President visited a wide range of NSVU-managed welfare projects, including the Preschool, welfare shops, Abans and Singer showrooms, cafeterias, bakery, holiday bungalows and several other welfare facilities.

She also took time to interact with the supervising officers and staff members attached to the respective projects, appreciating their dedication and valuable contributions towards the successful operation of these welfare initiatives. Encouraging them to continue their commendable service, the NSVU President highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards and further strengthening the Unit's welfare programmes for the benefit of the naval community.

The Deputy Area Commander Western Naval Area, Commodore Aruna Wijewardana, senior and junior officers, sailors and the staff of NSVU were present on these occasions.
