NSVU HOSTS DHAMMA SERMON IN SOLEMN OBSERVANCE OF VESAK FESTIVAL 2026

In a solemn and spiritually enriching ceremonial observance, in view of the Vesak Festival 2026, a Dhamma Sermon Programme was held at Navy Headquarters on 27 May 2026.

The spiritual programme was organised under the guidance of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, and distinguished by the presence of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

The Dhamma Sermon was delivered by Venerable Hasalaka Seelawimala Thero, whose enlightened discourse illuminated the theme of the programme “A Spiritual Journey in Exploration of the Dhamma on the Occasion of Vesak Celebration". The programme was executed with the objective of guiding naval personnel’s spiritual development, and fostering the moral virtues.

Over 1,000 participants, including members of the NSVU, officers from the tri services, sailors and other ranks as well as invited guests attended the programme in a profound act of collective spiritual devotion.

The programme was live-streamed facilitating naval personnel across all Naval Commands who could not attend in person could watch remotely. It was also telecast on Pragna TV on 30 May 2026 from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. To give a wider audience the chance to benefit from this sacred discourse, the programme has been made available on the Sri Lanka Navy's official YouTube channel.
