NSVU TURNS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY INTO A CELEBRATION OF HEALTH AND EMPOWERMENT

Marking International Women’s Day 2026, the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) held the sixth segment of its wellness programme series at SLNS Kavantissa on 16 May 26.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of the President of NSVU, Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, with the objective of enhancing the health and welfare of women connected to the Sri Lanka Navy. The occasion was graced by the Patron of NSVU and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

A large group of women sailors and spouses of naval personnel participated in the event which was organised with the support of Navy medical personnel together with a group of visiting healthcare professionals. Participants were provided with a variety of complimentary medical services, including clinical consultations and laboratory tests.

During the event, President NSVU interacted cordially with the participants and later conveyed her sincere appreciation to the medical teams and support staff for their dedication and contribution towards the successful conduct of the programme.

The occasion was also attended by the Commander Southern Naval Area, NSVU Executive Committee members, senior officers, Senior Coordinator NSVU, NSVU staff and sailors.
