NSVU’S NEW OUTLET BRINGS ISLAND BATIK CRAFT TO THE COLOMBO’S HEART

Adding colour, culture and convenience to the heart of Colombo, the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) declared open the newest batik sales outlet at the Lighthouse Galley on 30 Apr 26, creating an inviting space for both locals and visiting tourists.

Initiated following a notion mooted by the President of the NSVU, Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, this newly established batik centre now offers the public a wide range of batik creations produced by the NSVU. This initiative is expected to further promote the local batik industry while strengthening the role and contributions of the Seva Vanitha Unit.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Patron of the NSVU and the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, accompanied by the President of the NSVU Mrs. Anusha Banagoda. The Commander Western Naval Area RAdm Jagath Kumara, Naval Assistant to Commander of the Navy Captain Ashoka Weerasekara, senior officers, NSVU Executive Committee members and staff of the NSVU were also present on this occasion.
