In celebration of International Women’s Day 2026, the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) is rolling out an inspiring series of wellness programmes across all Naval Commands. Keeping the spirit alive, another programme took place on 25 Apr 26 at SLNS Deegayu in the Southeastern Naval Command.
Led by the President of NSVU, Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, the most recent initiative at SLNS Deegayu aimed at promoting the health and overall well-being of women affiliated with the Sri Lanka Navy. The event was honoured by the presence of the Patron of NSVU and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.
The event saw an impressive turnout of lady officers, women sailors, and spouses of naval personnel. The programme was carried out with the assistance of Navy medical staff, supported by a team of external healthcare professionals.
As part of the wellness programme, participants benefited from a range of free medical services, including eye screenings, blood tests, dental consultations, laboratory facilities, and other essential healthcare services.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Anusha Banagoda took time to warmly connect with attendees, and later extended heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams and support staff, whose commitment and valuable efforts made the programme a success.
The occasion was also attended by the Commander Southeastern Naval Area, NSVU Executive Committee members, senior officers and the Coordinating Officer of the NSVU.
