Navy Seva Vanitha Unit rings in Sinhala and Tamil New Year with vibrant fair

The President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, ceremonially declared open the NSVU New Year Fair at SLNS Gemunu on 09 Apr 26. The event was graced by the presence of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

Organized annually by the NSVU, the fair is a cornerstone initiative aimed at enhancing the welfare of naval personnel and their families during the festive season. The event was coordinated under the supervision of the Commander Western Naval Area, with the dedicated support of the NSVU members.

Following the opening, the Commander of the Navy and the President of the NSVU, accompanied by senior officers, visited a wide range of stalls at the premises. The fair offered a diverse range of essential commodities, including: festive goods, clothing, household items, food and confectionery at concessionary prices.

The event was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Director Generals, members of the NSVU Executive Committee, senior and junior officers, sailors, and civilian staff.
