Under the guidance of Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), a series of “Suwanari” medical programmes were organized by the NSVU across Naval Commands in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026. With the able patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, this initiative was designed to promote the health and well-being of women associated with the Sri Lanka Navy.
The latest edition of this generous initiative was held on 15 Mar 26, at SLNS Pandukabhaya in the North Central Naval Command. The event saw the participation of a significant number of lady officers and women sailors serving in the Sri Lanka Navy, along with spouses of naval personnel. It was conducted with the support of the Navy’s medical professionals and several external medical practitioners.
During the programme, participants were provided with complimentary medical services, including eye examinations, blood investigations, dental consultations, laboratory services, and other essential healthcare facilities.
The President of the NSVU also took the time to interact warmly with the participants and expressed gratitude to the medical officers and support staff, whose dedication was instrumental to the programme’s success.
The event was also attended by the Commander North Central Naval Area, senior officers, the Coordinating Officer and staff of the NSVU and sailors.
