Under the guidance of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, and in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026, the NSVU organized a series of “Suwanari” medical programmes across Naval Commands with the aim of promoting the health and well-being of women associated with the Sri Lanka Navy.
The second iteration of this generous initiative took place on 14 Mar 26 at the Nikaweratiya Town Hall. The event saw the participation of a considerable number of lady officers and women sailors serving in the Sri Lanka Navy, along with the spouses of naval personnel. It was conducted with the support of the Navy's medical professionals, as well as several external medical practitioners.
During the programme, participants were provided with complimentary medical services, including eye examinations, blood investigations, dental consultations, laboratory services, and other essential healthcare facilities.
The President of the NSVU also took time to engage in cordial interactions with the participants and conveyed her appreciation to the medical officers and supporting staff whose dedicated efforts greatly contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
The event was also attended by the Commander Northwestern Naval Area, senior officers, the Coordinating Officer and staff of the NSVU and sailors.
