NSVU launches dual relief drive for naval families

In line with its ongoing welfare initiatives, the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), under the guidance of the President NSVU, Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, implemented a book distribution programme and disaster relief for affected naval personnel across Naval Commands.

Yet another phase of this magnanimous effort was held on 29 Dec 25 at the Navy Headquarters under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda. The event saw educational materials being distributed for 12,823 children of naval personnel serving under the Western Naval Command, in preparation for the new academic term.

In a parallel benevolent effort, the NSVU has arranged relief measures for naval personnel impacted by recent adverse weather conditions. Thus, the NSVU has prepared relief packages, comprising dry rations, sanitary items and stationary, for 1,141 identified individuals. The inaugural distribution provided immediate support to 250 severely affected personnel within the Western Naval Command.

The Commander Western Naval Area, the Deputy Area Commander, Heads of Departments, officers, members of the NSVU Executive Committee, the staff of NSVU, and a group of naval personnel were present on this occasion.
