In a dedicated step to enhance the welfare infrastructure for women sailors, the newly renovated female ward at the Naval Hospital, Southern Naval Command, was officially opened on 04 Dec 25. The opening ceremony was presided over by the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Anusha Banagoda.
The renovation project, financed by the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, has modernized the facility to offer improved comfort and contemporary amenities. The upgraded ward is designed to provide a more supportive and recuperative environment for all women sailors serving under the Southern Naval Command.
Following the ceremonial opening, Mrs. Banagoda engaged with the naval personnel involved in the project. She held a cordial discussion and conveyed her sincere appreciation for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the successful completion of the ward's renovation.
The occasion was attended by the Commander Southern Naval Area, Deputy Area Commander, Commanding Officer SLNS Nipuna, Command Medical Officer, all Heads of Departments, officers, the Coordinating Officer NSVU & staff, and spouses of officers.
