In view of the forthcoming 75th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy, the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) organized several meritorious deeds at the Andiya Kanda Monastery in Ritigala on 07 Aug 25.
The programme, held under the auspices of the President of the NSVU, Mrs. Anusha Banagoda included offering morning and mid-day alms to 07 resident Bhikkus engaged in meditation at the monastery. On this occasion, Ata Pirikara (eight essential items) and Sesu Pirikara (other items) were also respectfully offered.
During the religious observances, merits were transferred to naval personnel who had made the supreme sacrifice in the defence of the nation. Further, blessings were invoked upon all serving members of the Sri Lanka Navy, as well as disabled naval veterans, for their wellbeing and prosperity.
The members of NSVU executive committee, Mrs. Sujeevi De Silva, Mrs. Vimarshi Fonseka, Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chandima Silva, Commanding Officer SLNS Pandukabhaya as well as the Coordinating Officer and the staff of NSVU were also present on this occasion.
