Naval Preschool Dakshina celebrates young talent at thrilling sports day

The annual sports meet of Navy Seva Vanitha Preschool Dakshina was held on a successful note at the sports ground of SLNS Nipuna on 21 Mar 25. The event was presided over by Mrs. Rajika Warnakulasuriya, a member of the Executive Committee of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit.

Following the guidance of the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Anusha Banagoda the annual sports meet is organized at Naval Preschools managed by the unit. The initiative underscores the NSVU’s commitment to promoting physical activity and holistic development in early childhood.

The Chief Guest and distinguished invitees were ushered by the Preschool band. The proceedings of the sports meet got underway with the symbolic lighting of the sports torch by a group of preschoolers. The sporting events were participated by children from the lower and upper nurseries.

The sports meet began on a vibrant note as the Preschool band warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and other distinguished attendees. The excitement soared as preschoolers lit the sports torch, officially declaring the meet open. Children from both Lower and Upper Nursery classes enthusiastically took part in a variety of sporting activities, showcasing their teamwork and enthusiasm.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the children also presented a vibrant drill display, delighting the audience with their creativity and coordination. The event concluded with a prize and certificate distribution ceremony, where the young achievers were honoured by the invited guests. In addition, a special memento prepared by children were presented to the Chief Guest.

The Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kosala Warnakulasuriya, officers from the Southern Naval Command, NSVU members, sailors and parents of the preschool children were present on this occasion.
