Navy Seva Vanita Unit takes proactive stance with breast cancer prevention

In a proactive move towards community health, the Navy Seva Vanita Unit organized a workshop on breast cancer prevention, for women serving in the Navy, spouses of naval personnel and female civil staff employees. The event took place in commemoration of the International Day Against Breast Cancer (19th October) and it was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters, organized under the guidance of the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Mala Lamahewa.

The National Cancer Institute played a crucial role in backing the programme. Dr. Kelumi Leelarathne from the National Cancer Institute, along with Nursing Officer Mrs. Chammi Balasooriya, and Chief Nursing Officer Mrs. Sandhya Gunathilaka from the Wattala Medical Officer of Health Office, provided valuable education on breast cancer prevention to the participants.

The Vice President of NSVU, Mrs Udeni Kularatne, Surgeon Commodore Nandani Wijedoru, a cross section of lady officers and women sailors from the Navy Headquarters and Naval Commands, spouses of naval personnel, female civil staff employees, the Secretary and the staff of NSVU were also present on this occasion.
