Navy Seva Vanitha Unit extends helping hand to permanently disabled sailor with donation of electric bed and mattress

In a heartwarming display of compassion and support, the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) facilitated the provision of an electric bed and a mattress to SAS Anuradha, a Transport Assistant who was left permanently disabled due to a tragic accident. The donation was held under the patronage of the President of the NSVU, Mrs Mala Lamahewa on 31st May 2023.

With the sailor’s mobility severely impaired, he reached out to the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit for assistance. Understanding the importance of providing the right equipment and care to improve his quality of life, NSVU sought assistance from the Religious Advisor at Mahakaruna Buddhist Society and Lankaramaya in Singapore, Ven. Dr. Karadatiyana Gunarathana Thera.

Accordingly, Ven. Dr. Karadatiyana Gunarathana Thera donated two electric beds to the NSVU, and one of these beds was designated for the Transport Assistant, SAS Anuradha. Additionally, NSVU generously contributed a mattress to complement the electric bed, further enhancing the sailor's comfort and well-being.

The Coordinating Officer, Secretary and staff of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit were also present on this occasion.
