NSVU coordinates distribution of school supplies provided by Indian Navy

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sukanya which arrived in Sri Lanka on 27th February 2023 brought books and 100 packs of school supplies, sent by Mrs Kala Hari Kumar - the spouse of the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) of the Indian Navy, to be distributed among the needy children of remote schools in Sri Lanka. The provision came into being as a result of a generous idea flowed to the mind of Mrs Kala Hari Kumar, during her visit to Sri Lanka in December last year.

The books and school supplies were handed over to the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa, on board INS Sukanya , in the attendance of Defence Advisor at the Indian High Commission in Colombo, Captain Vikas Sood, his spouse Mrs Puja Sood and Commanding Officer of the ship Commander Pranav Anand.

Accordingly, the items were symbolically handed over to the children of Diyakithulkanda Junior School in Galle, Kithsirigama Junior School in Monaragala under the auspices of the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit.
