Navy Seva Vanitha Unit organizes pilgrimages to coincide with the 66th anniversary of the Navy

As per the guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne and going by the concept of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, several pilgrimages to religiously significant sites were organized by the Eastern, Southern and Western Naval areas, focusing on the parents of naval personnel in respective commands.

Accordingly, necessary arrangements were made available for the parents of the naval personnel in the Eastern Naval Area to worship the temples in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. Meanwhile, the parents of the naval personnel at Welisara ‘Kadjukale’ married quarters in the Western Naval Command and the parents of the naval personnel at married quarters belonging to the Southern Naval Command visited and worshiped Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya and Kaluthara Bodhi and Temple of Katharagama respectively on 8th December 2016. The area commanders of respective commands took much interest in coordinating these events.

All devotees were provided with morning, afternoon and evening meals and religiously important sermons have also been arranged at respective religious sites for the benefit of elderly parents. Delighted by this timely meritorious deed, the parents expressed their great debt of gratitude to Commander of the Navy, the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and all senior officers for the all necessary arrangements made ready on this worthy cause enabling them to worship some of the most sacred religious sites and temples in the country.
